Did you know that in the UK almost 85% of the population used at least one social media platform in 2024?! That equates to nearly 49 million adults on a platform that you can use to drive your business (Source: DataReportal).

We all know that Social Media is a growing channel and now is driving actual ecommerce sales and revenue into businesses.

In fact 28% of UK small businesses reported that they drove more sales via Social Media than any other channel! (source: Startups Magazine) and 72% of businesses said they use to acquire new customers.

It really is a channel that needs time and investment from you to grow your business … today’s How-To, Tips on Improving Social Media Content to Capture Attention

🌟 Want to improve your social media content? Focus on what captures attention! 🌟

Creating scroll-stopping content isn’t just about posting often—it’s about posting smart.

Over the years, I’ve learned that choosing the right format can make all the difference in engagement. Here’s why:

✅ Static vs. Moving Images: Know When to Use Each.

While videos are powerful and great for storytelling, don’t underestimate the impact of a well-designed static image. Static posts are:

Quick to digest. Perfect for delivering clear, impactful messages (think quotes, infographics, or bold product shots).

Budget-friendly. Easier to create, which is great for scaling your content.

More adaptable. Platforms like Instagram often favour aesthetically pleasing static images in their feed.

But here’s the trick: use static images to stop the scroll and get the message across in seconds. Pair them with concise, value-driven captions to spark curiosity or drive action.

✅ Reserve Video for Deep Dives.

Moving images—like reels or animations—are fantastic for:

Showcasing tutorials.

Highlighting brand personality.

Engaging audiences with storytelling that needs more context.

✅ Test What Works.

Every audience is different. Run A/B tests on your static vs. video content, and monitor what drives the most engagement. You may find that static visuals outperform video in driving clicks or conversions in certain campaigns!

✅ Consistency + Simplicity Wins.

A strong static image with clean design, clear messaging, and your brand aesthetic can be just as (if not more!) engaging than a busy video. Keep your visuals clutter-free and purposeful.

At the end of the day, it’s about understanding your audience and matching the format to their preferences. Not every moment needs a flashy reel—sometimes a bold, static post does the job beautifully.
